Biographical sketch for Dennis Marshall

Dennis Marshall is married to wife Nanci and has two adult sons, David and Daniel.

He serves as the Assistant Pastor at the Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church in Wilmington, Delaware.  He is a former corporate executive, with 24 years of experience in leading change.  He is a certified Six Sigma Champion, trained in applying quality tools adapted for improving church stewardship, growth, and administrative processes.  As a church consultant, he has facilitated transformations, leadership development, and excellence in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Texas, and West Virginia.  He is a certified trainer for the Leading Turnaround series.  Additionally, he is a certified coach for the Life Innovations’ Prepare/Enrich program for improving marriages.

 He earned his undergraduate degrees from George Washington University in Washington, DC and from Hampton University (formerly Hampton Institute) in Hampton, Virginia.  He is completing his Masters of Arts in Pastoral Ministry: Concentration in Christian Management and Leadership through Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary in Newburgh, Indiana.

Biographical Sketch for Dr. Roger Ball

Dr. Roger Ball has been married to his wife Dianna for 32 years. They enjoy two adult daughters and three grandchildren. 

Roger has served at First Baptist Church in Tempe Arizona for 20 years, first as associate pastor and currently as senior pastor.  During his 14 years as senior pastor the worship services on Sunday went from two to six. Roger currently preaches three of the six worship services and develops the preaching skills of several staff pastors in the other three services.  By God’s blessings worship attendance, financial giving, salvations and ministry health have increased.  FBC-Tempe is 113 years old.

In the last seven years at FBC-Tempe God launched three new church plants. Two remain effective and one wisely closed it doors.

Dr. Roger Ball earned his undergraduate and three masters degrees from the University of Arizona and Western Seminary. Roger received his Doctor of Ministry from Western Seminary.  His doctoral work is titled “Returning Ministry Preparation to the Local Church.”

Roger also serves part-time on the staff and faculty at Phoenix Seminary as the Director of Mentoring where he develops 250 coaches, mentors and student protégés. Roger teaches at Phoenix Seminary in the masters and doctoral programs such classes as Conflict Management in the Local Church, Advanced Teaching Skills, Biblical Leadership, Developing Leaders who Develop Leaders, Survey of Effective Churches and Spiritual Life.  Roger was one of a dozen local pastors God used to give birth to Phoenix Seminary. Roger has served as Board Chair at Phoenix Seminary.

Local, national, inter-national ministry for Roger includes service on other schools and Boards such as Mission to the Americas, Valley Christian High School, Southwestern College, Southwest CBA and SEMBEQ.  Local church assessment, staff member enhancement, preaching mentoring, character reformation, team building, conflict resolution, bible teaching and ministry problem solving is a privilege and a joy for Roger.

Biographical Sketch for Steve Kim

Steve Kim graduated from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School as M.Div., TH.M (practical theology).  He has pastored in Peace Korean Church in Chicago, Antioch Bible Church in Virginia, Evergreen Church in Guam, and Lynnwood Church in Seattle.  He is currently the president of Ministry Direct and is ordained in the Christian Reformed Church.

Biographical sketch for Dr. Mike Brandenburg

Dr. Mike Brandenburg has been married to his wife Sharon for 34 years. They have two adult daughters and two grandchildren.

Mike has served as a pastor of two Southern Baptist churches in Georgia during his 27 years in ministry. Both of these churches were able to move from decline to growth during his ministry. Since 1989 he has served first as an associational missionary, and then a state missionary within Georgia. Much of this ministry has been working with churches and pastors to help establish growth and become healthy congregations. He has also been involved in church planting in Georgia and serves as a church planter assessor.

Mike earned an undergraduate degree from Columbus College (now Columbus State University) in Columbus, Georgia. He earned his master of divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. In 1997 Mike earned a doctor of ministry degree from New Orleans Seminary. His doctoral project was the development of a process of “Assisting Plateaued or Declining Churches Develop A Vision and Plan for Growth.”

Leading Turnaround Churches is only one area of training for Mike.  He is also a trained facilitator in several leadership development processes, a certified consultant in church conflict mediation, and a strategy development facilitator. Mike has a heart to see churches become healthy and grow.
