Leading Turnaround Teams

Home LTC LTC: 2004 in Review Gene Wood LTT

By Gene Wood and Daniel Harkavy

In Leading Turnaround Teams 7 "C-crets" of team building in
the non-profitsector will be considered:

Convictions
Courage
Commitment
Competency
Choices
Changes
Characteristics

A thesis of LTT is:  "Turnaround begins with leadership but will be implemented only through effective teamwork."

Gene will begin each chapter with a summary of the issues involved as they relate to team building and the inter-relatedness of the chapters.  For example which dynamics must the pastor-leader bring to the organization and when must the leader trust the team to make decisions and set direction?  This will provide the Scriptural basis and principles underlying each subject.  The second part of each chapter will bring Daniel Harkavy's business savvy and practical insights to the reader.  Daniel will provide point by point coaching tips for making the concepts and principles into realities in your situation.

We all know that good theory without application only produces frustration.  Leading Turnaround Teams will provide both the right principles for leading turnaround along with the step by step mechanism for creating a new reality in the organization you lead.

Daniel Harkavy is the founder-owner of Building Champions a fast growing company which provides professional coaching for the business community.

A growing staff of 16 coaches now helps men and women achieve their personal, family, professional, and spiritual goals.  In recent years Daniel’s Commitment to Christ prompted him to begin a not-for-profit entity called Ministry Coaching International.  Now non-profit professionals are able to benefit from the years of coaching experience without the business “price-tag.”

Any leader who has engaged a turnaround knows such business is NOT for the faint-of-heart.  This book resonate with that kind of a leader.  And as a former football coach, I love the format in which Wood and Harkavy give you both the philosophical "play book" and the coaching manual that accompanies it.  Couldn't be more practical or effective!

“Gene Wood knows leadership. His work in Leading Turnaround Churches aligns him with America's foremost specialists in the field. Leading Turnaround Teams is a must read for any leader or leadership team committed to the process of change. Team building and team selection will become a prominent theme in this

transformation process. Harkavy brings the coaching perspective, while Wood offers the ecclesiology to form a team model desperately needed in the American church. Read this book the first time alone to digest the material; then read the book a second time with your leadership and watch them grow into a team.”
